Lea Salonga...Your Songs

This will be the first concert of Ms. Lea Salonga that I will be watching with June if ever.

I'm excited for this. At least I have more than 3 months to save up for this so we can be on good seats! But tickets will start selling by September! Yay!

I will attempt to submit these songs for her repertoire since the concert has a "By Request" concept.

These songs are by far some of the songs that I've been wanting her to sing either in concerts or on record.

(not in order)
1. "At Last" by Eva Cassidy
2. "Out Here On My Own" by Irene Cara
3. "I Love You Goodbye" by Celine Dion
4. "How Do I Live" by LeAnn Rimes
5. "Only Hope" by Mandy Moore (she sang this during the Requiem Mass for Former Speaker De Venecia's daughter)
6. "I'll Never Stop Loving You" by Andy Williams
7. "Miss You Like Crazy" by Natalie Cole
8. "Some Good Things Never Last" by Barbra Streisand
9. "Kung Ako Na Lang Sana" by Bituin Escalante
10. "Forevermore" by Side A
11. "Para Sa Akin" by Sitti

But well, she can throw in some Lady GaGa, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift or Beyoncé songs as well! LOLz

You Give Good Love

You Give Good Love was a big hit for Whitney Houston back in 1985. And I haven't done an MP3 Back-2-Back special for a long time so this is the perfect time to feature this plus today's my 15th month-sary with Agent J so I especially dedicate this song for him!

Only You Can Love Me This Way

June,

Happy 14th month-sary! So that's a year and two months of patience, hardwork and trust. Hands down talaga ako.

You have an incredible amount of patience when it comes to my 'mood-swings', that's why this song fits perfectly for us.

Yes, I could have turned and looked at some other guy, went to some other place and met someone else. But here we are, still together...getting stronger as days pass by.

"And you're ALWAYS in my HEART, you're always on my MIND
When it ALL becomes too much, you're NEVER far behind"

The first time I heard this song, I thought of you and I cried (since it's my off from work and we're not together that time). I am actually fighting back the tears right this moment. I really am.

And I still do dream that someday we can stroll in the park, hands held tight. And live our dreams, together...

"And there's NO ONE that comes CLOSE to you
Could EVER take your place
'Cause only YOU can LOVE me this way..."

Roms

Race to Witch Mountain

Saw the trailer for this one when June & watched "He's Just Not That Into You" last week.

I've always had the hots for Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a. 'The Rock'). I've only seen him for his wrestling stints but not on any acting roles.

This will be the first movie of him that June & I will be seeing next week.

I heard this is a remake of the 1975 movie "Escape To Witch Mountain"

"Race To Witch Mountain" opens March 13, 2009.

Roxanne Barcelo - Kung Alam Mo Lang

My boyfriend requested me to download him the song "Because I'm A Girl" by the group Kiss.

I recalled our very own Roxanne Barcelo recorded a Filipino version of that song which I prefer.

Well, the only reason I quite didn't like the original version was because of the spoken verse.

8 Oscar® Nominations for 'Milk'

WOW! 8 Oscar® nomimations for the Sean Penn-Gus Van Sant film "Milk", a biopic on Harvey Milk, the first American openly gay man to be elected to public office.

"Milk" is nominated for Best Actor (Sean Penn), Best Director (Gus Van Sant), Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best in Costume Design, Best Original Score, Best Supporting Actor and Best Film Editing.

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" received a total of 13 nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor (Brad Pitt), Best Cinematography and Best Director.

While I stumbled upon the 3 Animated Films nominated this year, "Wall-E", "Kung Fu Panda" and "Bolt". All of which June & I was very fortunate to have seen and we both admired those great animated films. All of them deserves an Oscar®.

For the Best Actress in a Leading Role, it's neck to neck among Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Angelina Jolie (Changeling) {Wow! Husband and wife ba ito? LOL}, Melissa Leo (Frozen River), Meryl Streep (Doubt), and Kate Winslet (The Reader).

To view the complete list of Oscar® nominees this year, visit the website.

The 81st Annual Academy Awards will be hosted by Hugh Jackman on February 22, 7PM CST.

Amazing Bolt

This is waaay past due, I know.

Yes, June & I went on to see Walt Disney's "Bolt" on Christmas Eve last year, just before MMFF started We watched "Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat" the next day actually.

"Bolt" is one good example of a family oriented movie. Just like "Finding Nemo". I was a bit hesitant to watch it at first to be honest. This is the second time I cried over an animated movie. First was "Ice Age", the part where the mammoth had the flashback for his family being slaughtered by the primitive humans.

I like the fast-paced and adventurous plot of "Bolt". Their funny antics were hilarious. A dog, a cat and a hamster on a roadtrip around the US. It was fun watching the movie. One of the feel-good flicks I’ve seen in a while. Nagrereklamo na nga si June 'cos parati raw suspense or action-thrillers gusto ko. Prior to "Bolt" we went on to watch Keanu Reeves' "The Day The Earth Stood Still".

And I never knew the two lead characters were voiced by John Travolta and Miley Cyrus! Wow! And even the theme song, "I Thought I Lost You" (which I will be posting soon) was awesome. Jenny Lewis' track "Barking At The Moon" was homely.

One thing I liked most at the movie besides the story was the animation. It was very believable, very real. I almost forgot it was an animated movie. The animation is at its best. There were some goofs here and there but overall, it was great. Kudos to Walt Disney Pictures!

Next stop, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". After that, "Valkyrie". Then there’s Harry Potter 6, Ice Age 3, Dragon Ball Z… Oh, 2009 should be fun!

Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

This is really funny! I saw this one when June & I went on to see "The Day The Earth Stood Still" last Saturday.

It's a pity July 4th pa sya showing. Hehe! Iniwasan 'yung Harry Potter for next year.

Sorry bakla lang, lasing pa!

NOTE: Some spoilers ahead.

I laughed out at this line, "Sorry bakla lang, lasing pa!" by Paolo Rivero's character in "Walang Kawala".

Agent J & I were able to watch this last night at Robinson's Galleria IndieSine of course.

The movie is great (of course it's a Joel Lamangan film!), though there were some pretty disturbing scenes mostly with Emilio Garcia's psychopathic scenes.

Going back to the Paolo Rivero-Joseph Bitangcol scene, I'm very sorry but that was very mean of "Waldo". I mean, what was he thinking?! Well, maybe he really loves "Joaquin" so he decided to be "best friends" with his housemate.

Nothing is more painful than a heart whose broken. Physical pains are pains, pero iba pa rin talaga pag puso na. And then the rejection and loneliness sinks in.

BTW, I noticed their house was the same house used for the movie "Roxxxanne". The front door and stairs are very familiar!

The best 'yung frontal ni Marco Morales (photo above), grabe binuyangyang talaga. I wonder if that frontal part was really shot along with the audiences at the gay bar. Hmm...nah I don't think so.

Aljur Abrenica was cute here, medyo *matigas* lang katawan nya, hehe!

Polo Ravales is also great here. I admire his acting. Hats off! Sexy as always and very nice butt!

Emilio Garcia's performance here was phenomenal. Very natural. There were times during the movie where I hated him like hell. Sobra.

The rest of the cast was ok I suppose. Another future addition to my Pinoy DVD collection. Yipee! I haven't got a copy of "Kambyo" and "Imoral" nga eh. But what about "Troika"? Attention!

Okay, off topic na. I'll give the movie 4 and a half out 5 popcorn bags. And yeah, one of the very few movies na pwede kong ulit-ulitin.

Max Payne

© 20th Century-Fox Film

Okay, I actually opted for the DiCaprio-Crowe flick "Body of Lies" but again, Agent J insisted we watch this one since he had experienced playing the game. Ok!

I can't say it's that good, but it's not bad either. Like "The Mutant Chronicles", I actually got the urge to play the game but I don't know, I'm not the gamer type of guy.

I actually saw the trailer for this film when we watched "The Mutant Chronicles" or before that. I am honestly not sure how many movies Agent J and I have seen together. I've lost count.

Later I found out the character 'Natasha' (played by Olga Kurylenko) is the leading lady of Daniel Craig on the upcoming James Bond film "Quantum of Solace". No wonder she looked very familiar!

© 20th Century-Fox Film

We actually watched this at TriNoma last Saturday morning. We were on the THX cinema so astig ang mga gunshots scenes! At si 'Sucre' (played by Amaury Nolasco) of "Prison Break" nandito din pala! Haha! His role is a bit different here.

Agent J & I were discussing if it's Chris O'Donnell as one of the supporting casts here. I waited for the end credits and I was right, it was him. Geez, he look that old nowadays? Or was it the character for the film?

For someone who haven't played the game and has no idea who the hell Max Payne is prior to watching the movie, I'll give the movie 3 1/2 out of 5 popcorns. The slashing and scattered body parts scene is a bit disturbing.

As usual, Mark Wahlberg is hot as always. I've read bad reviews about him again on this one but I don't really care. I dig the 'bukol' scenes nyahaha!

The Mutant Chronicles

Agent J & I went to see this one last Wednesday night. Biglaan 'cos medyo late na kami nakarating ng Megamall. We were to watch "Bangkok Dangerous" but were 5 minutes off so we opted to watch this one.

I found the movie kinda stressful on the chest. I think I must not watch movies like these 10 years from now unless I do something about my heart/blood pressure issues.

Anyway, the lead actor is amazingly familiar, Thomas Jane. I looked up his profile and learned he appeared on "Dreamcatcher" which I liked, well a bit. Medyo morbid din yung movie, hehe!

Agent J immediately concluded this movie is a "low-budget" movie. I was actually astonished kasi ok naman 'yung effects. Except for the blood, which I find very fancy. I thought they were simulating a game-feel effect since the movie was based from an RPG with the same name.

The movie is fast-paced though I was a bit saddened John Malkovich has a very short-lived role here. And the character Brother Samuel (played by Ron Perlman) was funny because his other movie "Hellboy 2" was also playing alongside this movie.

When Agent J & I bought the tickets for "Mutant Chronicles", that's the time I remembered we haven't watch "Hellboy 2" yet. Darn! Well, maybe next time. I actually have lost count how many movie nights Agent J and I had.

Babylon A.D.

I love sci-fi movies, I really do. I was very excited to watch this with Agent J last Monday, but I was very (read-VERY) disappointed with the ending.

It makes me wanna read the actual novel from which it was based upon.

I also happen to like Vin Diesel. Yes! And I'm looking forward for his "Fast and the Furious" next year as well.

The critics were kinda harsh on his acting here, but I don't care. The moment I hear his hoarse and voice, oh my! Well, you know what I mean.

Michelle Yeoh is fantastic here doing her own stunts. I was a bit shocked she died here. Oops! Spoilers! My bad.

The actor who played "Aurora" here (Mélanie Thierry) got pretty on the second half of the movie. Yes I know she could've taken a shower and all that, but coming from a convent all her life and then upon arrival in New York and she suddenly has that supermodel look? Hehe!

I like the rap music on the beginning of the film. But I really wish our world will not come to that state in the future; nuclear war, mass-scale chaos, rage.. I do not feel like living if my world's like that.

The Dark Knight

Agent J & I are looking forward to watch this this weekend.

I miss Heath Ledger all over again...

Bench Blackout Underwear & Denim Show

It was a blast! The second half was boring though. Bench Fever was way better even if I only saw it on video.

JC de Vera was smokin' hottt!!! Whew!

I noticed most of the models were beefy. The MUBO segment was good.

Again, many thanks to A.C. for the invites! Agent J & I had a great time though we waited in line for more than an hour. Good thing it didn't rain or something! Or else, kandos! LOLz

Paul McCartney - This Never Happened Before

Agent J dedicated this song for me. Apparently he's been searching for this song and requested if I can get it for him.

Love you Mahal! Hehe! Bluetooth ko na lang sa'yo to tonight ok?

This track also appeared on the Keannu Reeves-Sandra Bullock movie "The Lake House" which I like!

Kyla - Without You

This is for Agent J, yet again! Hehe!

Ganito kita ka-miss kahit isang araw lang tayo di nagkikita..

Now that we've ventured to a whole new phase of our relationship, I'm very positive my sun will shine each and every day of my life.

So pa'no yan, do we need to buy color coded hangers for our clothes?! Harr harr!

Seriously J, there's still a lot more to come. Hope you'd sit tight and stay on the road with me.
