Jennifer Hudson accepted her (first!) Grammy award for Best R&B Album from Whitney Houston

Wow! Some of the Idols won during the Grammy Awards night! Jennifer Hudson for Best R&B Album and Carrie Underwood for Best Country Vocal Performance for "Last Name".

Jordin Sparks was nominated along with Chris Brown for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for the song "No Air" while Fantasia & Jennifer Hudson for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for the song "I'm His Only Woman".

Kelly Clarkson meanwhile performed at the pre-awards night to salute industry icon Clive Davis along with Jennifer Hudson and Barry Manilow.



Carrie Underwood performs "Last Name" at the 51st Grammy Awards

Poor Leona Lewis didn't win any awards. She lost all of her 3 Grammy Nominations for Record of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Bleeding Love" and Best Pop Vocal Album for "Spirit".

Chris Brown backed-out last minute due to an alleged assault to an unidentified woman. Rihanna, also backed-out to the evening's awards night.

Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" won Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals and Song of the Year! Wow! And the album won on the Best Rock Album category!

Ne-Yo won Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for "Miss Independent" and also Best R&B Song. His album "Year of the Gentleman" lost to Mary J. Blige's "Growing Pain" though.
