Milk
Sean Penn (left) portrays the role of Harvey Milk (right)
"Milk" is a biopic of the first openly gay man to be voted into public office in America, Harvey Milk.
The movie premiered in the US last October 28.
Harvey Milk served almost eleven months as city supervisor and was responsible for passing a stringent gay rights ordinance in San Francisco. He was assasinated (with then Mayor George Moscone) on November 27, 1978 by Dan White, a former city supervisor. White was put on trial, imprisoned and was later given parole but took suicide in 1985.
Directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Psycho), and stars Sean Penn (I Am Sam, Mystic River), James Franco (Spider-man, Pineapple Express) and Diego Luna (Y tu mamá también, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights).
I have admired Sean Penn on "I Am Sam" and I am actually looking forward for "Milk" to be screened here in the Philippines (hopefully next year!).

this movie looks awesome with all-star cast and excellent director. pinoy directors can learn from Guy Van Sant and pinoy gays can learn from the story of Harvey Milk.
ReplyDeleteI'm really crossing my fingers this movie will be screened here, I'd really like to see this film. The trailer is very touching as well.
