Magsimula Ka

The country was hit by Tyhphoon Ondoy (International Name: Ketsana) with severe flooding never seen in four decades. The aftermath saw us united in helping out our fellow Filipinos and showed the world what 'bayanihan' really is.

Although it left us a number of casualties and damages, now's the time to reach out and start anew.

We've just only started to mend the wounds but another storm is on it's way, so let us all be prepared.

John Lloyd Cruz in 'In My Life' (photo courtesy of PinoyRickey)

June & I saw "In My Life" last Saturday in Eastwood Cinema and it's really touching. Sobrang nakaka-relate. I wish I could open up things with my mom pero I couldn't pa rin even though June & I were living together for more than a year na.

I could say I can relate to the character of John Lloyd Cruz' "Noel" in the movie. Character naman siguro ni "Mark" nung single ako, harr harr harr!

And the kissing scene was very romantic, set in Brooklyn Bridge. Medyo tumili 'yung mga tao sa likod namin, not sure kung na-shock sila or kinilig haha! Imagine si John Lloyd and Luis Manzano nag-kiss? LOLz

I cried 4 times throughout the movie. The last time I cried over a heavy drama Filipino movie was "Blue Moon", also a family-oriented film.

This is an addition to my DVD collection soon. I wasn't expecting such movie from Star Cinema but there it goes. If you haven't seen the movie yet, go watch it with your boyfriend, or with your mom or bring the entire family!

After the movie, June fondly calls me "Noel", John Lloyd's character name since medyo kamukha ko daw siya. He'll be the 5th person who told me that. My late Lola Ester was the first person to have noticed.

Deep inside, I was like "lamang lang siya ng dalawa't kalahating ligo" Ahahaha!

This is a great rendition of the Side A signature hit "Forevermore" and I especially saved this song for this day, 17th month-sary namin ni June. Hope you guys will like it as well.

'Bayaw' opens today

The Cinemalaya NETPAC World Competition top grosser 'Bayaw' has just been given the R-18 rating by the MTRCB. After weeks of meeting with the MTRCB panelists, the controversial film has been re-edited by director Monti Parungao so that the integral scenes that people want to see can still be seen.

Shutter Island

I saw the trailer for this one when June & I went on to see "G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra" last August and I instantly would want to watch this one come October. Unfortunately, June is not a great fan of suspense movies like I do so there may be some convincing to go through pa.

This was from a 2003 novel with the same title by Dennis Lehane.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio (Titanic, The Beach), Mark Ruffalo (13 Going on 30, Just Like Heaven), Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain, Mammoth) and Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Schindler's List).
